Detectives Seek Witnesses to Altercation Outside Bar

A 36-year-old Madison man was arrested on Sunday, March 2nd, in connection to an altercation that occurred outside of Jerry’s Place on North Fair Oaks Avenue in the town of Blooming Grove.
Leron D. Smith-Brookins entered Jerry’s Place on Saturday night, March 1st, to confront a patron at the business. The two men decided to take it outside, and during the confrontation, a box cutter was introduced. Law enforcement learned of the altercation after the 46-year-old victim was dropped off at a local emergency room with life-threatening injuries.
Smith-Brookins is tentatively charged with 1st Degree Reckless Injury. Dane County Sheriff’s detectives would like to interview witnesses to the events at Jerry’s Place on Saturday night.
