Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies made two felony arrests for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) overnight.
The first call took place at approximately 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 12th, when a caller reported a disabled vehicle in the traffic lane on Baltes Road, west of U.S. Highway 12. When a deputy arrived, she saw a person slumped over in the driver’s seat with a bottle of whiskey in his lap. After waking Ryan S. Wagner, age 34, of Waunakee, he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and ultimately arrested for OWI – 4th offense.
The second stop occurred at 12:39 am after several 911 callers reported an SUV traveling in the wrong direction on U.S. Highway 151 near Town Hall Road. Deputies were able to catch up to the Chevy Trailblazer and make a traffic stop on CTH F, where Ryan R. Gilman, age 42, of Madison, was put through field sobriety tests. He was arrested for OWI – 5th offense and issued several other traffic citations.
Both men are currently being held in the Dane County Jail. Law Enforcement throughout Dane County are participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled over campaign and will put forth additional resources to stop impaired drivers this holiday season.
