At the Dane County Board meeting on Thursday, three new supervisors will be sworn in.
Elizabeth Doyle (District 1), Kristen Audet (District 17), and Ann DeGarmo (District 33) will take the oath of office Thursday night following a special election earlier in June.
Doyle, Audet, and DeGarmo will be filling vacancies created when three former Supervisors resigned to take positions in Governor Evers’ Office.
Doyle works for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, is a graduate of the LaFollette School of Public Affairs, and was awarded the distinction of Wisconsin 2015 Truman Scholar. From 2013 to 2018, she served on the Verona City Council, chaired the Personnel and Finance Committees, and was unanimously elected City Council President in her first term. She looks forward to serving in public office again and working to protect our lakes, promote access to mental health services, and support a thriving downtown as a county board supervisor.
“I have been inspired by the thoughtful and passionate folks I met throughout the campaign and am grateful for the opportunity to serve the community,” Doyle said.
Audet, with a background in public health and law education is interested in improving communication and collaboration between county and community, specifically in mental health, as well as supporting community health and social services needs.
“I am grateful for former Supervisor Jeff Pertl’s service to our community and I’m ready to step into this role. I see an opportunity, and a need, to bring together different governing bodies, residents, and experts throughout our community to drive effective partnerships and collaborate for a healthy, safe, and affordable community” stated Audet.
DeGarmo currently serves as the Legislative Advisor for the WI Department of Revenue, is interested in protecting our environment from the effects of climate change, prioritizing fixing county roads, and ensuring all residents have access to healthcare services, including mental healthcare. Ann also has over ten cycles of campaign and organizing experience and most recently recruited, trained, and supported candidates in other parts of the state. She is a Big Sister of 7 years with the Dane County Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
"I'm honored that my neighbors in Fitchburg have chosen me to be our community's advocate to the Dane County Board. I am eager to continue building relationships that started during the campaign and finding ways for Dane County can invest in our community" remarked DeGarmo.
